Faith is a very common word in these contemporary days. It’s used by motivational
speaker, relationship counselors and even casually among people. However,
whatever definition people might give faith, the Holy Bible gives faith its own
clear definition. I’m sure it’s for us to be on the same page with God when
matters of faith are required. The extent of importance of faith is made clear
in Hebrews 11:6 “But
without faith it is impossible to please him: for He that cometh to
God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that
diligently seek him.”
That portion of the
Bible is as simple as it has been written.
By grace through Faith we are been saved from sin and the defilements
of this world Ephesians 2:8
- 9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it
is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Our been
nice, good, philanthropic, caring are all good qualities but can’t and didn’t save
us from sin.
By faith
in God are we sanctified…according to the confessions of Jesus to Saul that
became Paul the apostle as seen in Acts 26:18 “To open their eyes, and to
turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan
unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them
which are sanctified by faith that is in me”
By faith
are we filled with the spirit of God, and this is physically seen to be manifesting
the gifts of the spirit. Galatians 3:14 “That the blessing of Abraham might
come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of
the Spirit through faith.”
The faith
of a believer also strengthens us to continuously live holy and pleasing to
God; delivers from sickness, and any obstacle on a Christian’s path.
James
5:15 “And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him
up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him”
Ephesian
6:16 “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to
quench all the fiery darts of the wicked”
Matthew
17:20 “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say
unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this
mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall
be impossible unto you.”
The genuine faith is available to everyone that is willing
to have it. Salvation, is however needed before the genuine dynamite faith in
us can move great mountain. Forsaking all sins (small and big), believing God
has forgiven you (baby-step faith) and living consistently off sin is the first
step.
Faith moves mountains
